2021 AWARD NOMINEES

FESTIVAL POSTER

This year’s festival poster reminds us of our work and how far we’ve come. Depicted is one of the festival’s fondest actor friends and supporters, Jasmine Johnson, who was captured pre-pandemic January 2020 in character during the production of BFFNO’s original film “Tucker’s War.” Symbolically, as we recall how COVID has stretched us all thin, her contortion shapes her into the letter C while also evoking images of the Sankofa bird, which in African Diaspora represents reflection on the past. Our subject is both reflecting on the past while moving forward into the future in this original Ayo Scott piece entitled “Circle Back”

2021 FILM Discussion Series

Join us for in-person, post-event discussions on our film screenings. Get ready for some great movies and entertainment this week. When finished with the films, stick around as we present our #NolaNoir dialogue series. We’ve recruited some brilliant folks in the entertainment industry to engage us and our visiting filmmakers in dialogue about the films.
